Father’s Day 2017, Being a Father
September 05, 2017
Speaker: Leanne & Rod Thom with guests
Passage: 1 Corinthians 13 & Hebrews 12:1-3
1 Corinthians 13:4-7
4 Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant 5 or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; 6 it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. 7 Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
- Fathers and father figures have influence on us
- God is the great example of a loving father
- Being a father is different in each circumstance, in each family and with each child
- Men, wether fathers or not, can be a blessing to the community
