Small Group Questions: Who Do You Think We Are? (Ephesians 5:21-33)

Invite someone to pray asking the Spirit to move and speak during your small group time.

Ephesians 5:18
‘Be filled with the Spirit’ should be translated as ‘keep on being, moment by moment, continually filled with the Spirit’.

-David gave the windsurfing illustration to explain being filled with the Spirit. Chat about that. How do you ‘position yourself’ to be filled with the Spirit?

-What other pictures/ images/ metaphors describe being filled with the Spirit?

-What new insights did you get from what David shared about Ephesians 5:21? Any action required?

-Dialogue about submitting to others as Christ submitted to the Father.

Read Ephesians 5:22-33
-Quietly reflect on and write down what God is saying to you personally out of the passage. Take some time.
Share these things in your group

-David mentioned the 5 love languages are; physical touch, acts of service, quality time, words of affirmation and gifts. What is your primary love language? What is the significance of knowing your love language and that of other significant people in your life?

-Reflect on Paul using marriage as the best earthly picture of Christ and His bride. What do you notice?

-Consider the key people in your life (husband, wife, children, parents etc): what does it mean for you to relate with them in ways that bring out the joy and life of Christ? What are you already doing well? What new things can you build in? Remember it all starts with the ongoing filling with the Spirit!!

Remember David’s illustration of the rose…the beauty and fragrance.

You may like to close by praying for each other and specifically praying for God to…

God Bless.
