Small Group Questions – Taking Sin Seriously

Take turns in the group to read 1 Corinthians 5. Read from both The Message then another translation.

Without mentioning names, tell the story of damage done within a church when sin was discovered.
What has been your experience of this?

Rod mentioned that ‘we are all only one bad choice away from stuffing up our lives.’
Discuss this danger.

What is the right way to deal with sin in the church?
See 1 Corinthians 5:2-5, 11, 13 and 1 Timothy 5:19-20.

What promises can we hang onto when we are tempted?
See Romans 6:6-7.

Read 1 Corinthians 5:6-13.
What warnings are there for us not to be mixed up with sin?

Are there things you feel the Church (the whole Church or the local church) need to address and identify as sin?

Are there things you as a group of believers need to address?

Take time as a group to repent, to turn your faces back towards Jesus, sit in prayer and repentance. Sit as part of the Church and pray into turning to Christ first as Saviour and Lord, and turning away from sin.

Encourage and support each other in this process.
