Passage: 1 Corinthians 10:1-22

For I do not want you to be ignorant of the fact, brothers and sisters, that our ancestors were all under the cloud and that they all passed through the sea. They were all baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea. They all ate the same spiritual food and drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ.

Key Points
Last time we were together… Paul challenged the Corinthian church and us to be all things to all people and to run the race of life in such a way as to win the prize. He also brought home to us that in order for that to happen we needed to go into strict training and to be self-disciplined. Now in 1 Corinthians 10 he encourages us to look back and he puts the race that the Israelites ran under the microscope. He does this so that we might learn from their race and not repeat the same mistakes as they did.  Paul is coaching us/the church in how to run a good Kingdom race. So here are 3 insights from 1 Corinthians 10, 3 insights that will help us to be good runners in this race called life…

  • A good runner learns from those who have gone before
  • A good runner doesn’t get complacent
  • A good runner knows what to do when they hit the wall
