SPORTS MINISTRY Report
We had 20 teams and approximately 160 children participating in the junior basketball competition over the course of 2023, ranging from Under 9’s right through to Under 17’s. Whilst there are some families from our church community, the majority are from the wider community. It was great to see one girls' team in Under 9’s and three girls' teams in Under 16’s. Whilst we did lose a boys' team at the start of Semester 2, I also gained a new team after a child attended my mid-year basketball clinic and sausage sizzle, and he and his dad pulled together a new team.
The mid-year basketball clinic was attended by about 20 children and I’m grateful to Dan Woods for coordinating the skills and games on the day. IGA Waterford kindly donated a huge amount of drinks and discounted costs for the sausage sizzle. The feedback from parents was well received.
We also had two adults' teams playing in the Senior Saturday competition.
I am looking forward to God growing this ministry into the future.
