GENERATIONS & YOUNG ADULTS MINISTER Report

My prayer for our Young Adults through the year was that their identity would be grounded in Jesus’ teachings so that they could live freely, in a way that embodied their faith and future assurance.  As part of this theme we continued to implement the small strategic changes that were started in 2022.  We again reduced the quantity of programs that were specifically for young adults and actively encouraged the group to see themselves as part of the whole church and engage fully with the wider church community.  The young adults were also encouraged to commit to a Belong group; a place where they could grow and be encouraged in a smaller context.

Even with less emphasis on events, there was still plenty to keep us going and invite friends along to. We held a bring-and-share dinner each term, hung out at the beach and went out for dessert together.  After-church-coffee was well attended and it was great to see a few people initiate ‘organic’ gatherings. State Youth Games is always a highlight of the year and in 2023 our team of over a 100 participants managed to finish as runners up in the main competition.

As I look ahead to 2024,  I’d love to see- so I’m praying that- all of our young people would grow in intimacy with Jesus and experience more of what he has for them as they abide in Him.
